ONT Field
Ontario, CA

Review by Mike

ONT Field is the home of the Ontario Tower Buzzers of the California League. This Single-A ballpark, which opened in 2026, is crammed with so many ideas and nods to the parent club and its namesake that it can be a bit dizzying, but it all works in a busy sort of way. My first impression, though, is that this feels much more like a AA park and one wonders if the builders had “upward compatibility” in mind.

Let’s start with the name. ONT is the airport code for the nearby Ontario International Airport and they go all in with the airport theme. The main entrance looks like an airport terminal, even going so far as to have a large sign that reads “ARRIVALS” above the main gate. The seating and concession area beyond left field is labelled “El Patio Aviones” and the food court in deep centerfield looks like an airplane hangar. Oh, and all of the gameday staff are dressed as pilots.

Next, the Dodgers, with whom the Tower Buzzers are affiliated. The scoreboard in left-centerfield has the familiar hexagon shape of the scoreboards at Dodger Stadium. There is a large mural/memorial to Fernando Valenzeula along the 3rd base concourse. Thank heavens they don’t sell Dodger Dogs here.

There is seating everywhere. The left field fence has two levels of bar seating right at the top of the fence. In the left field corner is a terraced berm, right next to a more traditional grass berm. All around the concourse is seating with tables and bars to eat food in comfort, but somewhat confoundingly, these are actually reserved spots. Imagine my surprise when I plopped my burger onto the ledge, only to approached by a “pilot” and told I needed a ticket to eat there. Aye Aye, Captain.

There is a wiffle ball field behind the right field corner. The upper level has suites and a hospitality deck. The new team is so popular that there was a line 50-deep waiting to get into the team store. I’m going to deduct half a hot dog for charging $15 to park when there are no other options, this is Class A baseball, and the ballpark is surrounded by acres of empty land.

ONT Field is certainly a fine new ballpark and may immediately be the class of the California League. There’s a lot going on here, but the crowd did manage to focus on the ballgame, which featured a big comeback win by the home team that was raucously cheered by the large crowd. As a home ballpark, it might be a bit exhausting after a while, but as a one-time visitor, I was suitably entertained.
